Congrats to the Basketball Champs!! Last week, the Board of Trustees recognized two outstanding basketball teams that earned the East Side Athletic League championships in their respective divisions! Congratulations to Ocala’s 8th Grade Boys Basketball team and Joseph George’s Lady Vikings - the 6th / 7th Grade Girls Basketball team for their hard work and representing ARUSD. See them in action this weekend at ARUSD's Rock the Court tournament at Overfelt High School!

Ocala’s 8th Grade Boys’ Basketball Team, under the guidance of their dedicated Coach and Ocala Teacher, Dawaine Williams, this team displayed remarkable resilience and determination throughout the season. Their hard work culminated in a thrilling championship victory against Davis Middle School. Congratulations!

Joseph George Middle School’s Lady Vikings 6th/7th Grade Girls’ Basketball Team, under the leadership of Coach and Athletic Director Michelle Gilbert, achieved a perfect season, finishing with an impressive 10-0 record. Their dedication, teamwork, and skill were evident in every game, culminating in a decisive championship victory. Congratulations Lady Vikings!

Congratulations to LUCHA's on having the most "Super Readers" during the 24-25 Winter Reading Challenge set by figure skating Olympic gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi's Always Dream Foundation.

Students in Ms. Bun's class and Ms. Hiroshima's TK and Kindergarten class were treated to a special surprise from Kristi Yamaguchi herself who read to the class! Congratulations LUCHA!

The mission of Kristi Yamaguchi’s Always Dream is to ensure children have access to high-quality books in the home environment and extensive family engagement support.

Congratulations to the Ocala MESA Math National Engineering Design Competition team for winning 1st place at the preliminary competition for the third year in a row!!!! This team will represent San Jose at the Regional Competition in April! Way to go Cougars!!! Big congratulations to Mrs. Balster the MESA advisor and Ocala staff. This could not happen without their dedication and support.

​​​​​Alum Rock Union Elementary School District is seeking applicants to fill vacant positions which currently exist on our Citizen’s Bond Oversight Committee (CBOC) and Parcel Tax Committee. The CBOC and Parcel Tax Committees are independent oversight committees composed of volunteers from within our community.
These committee members are critical because these volunteers are entrusted with and dedicated to ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent as approved by voters.

Among the members we are seeking are: 

• Business Representative
• Active member of a Senior Citizen group
• Member of a Taxpayer Organization
• Parent or Guardian of a Student 
• Active member of a PTA, School Site Council, or School District Committee
• Community Member at Large

Committee members are expected to join one meeting per quarter for a total of four meetings per year.
